Hey all,
I am looking into games that look original, for example Samurai 2 vengeance with the handpainted punchy graphics
http://www.madfingergames.com/g_samurai2.html or the silhouette look of Feist
http://www.playfeist.net/
It doesn't whether the games are next-gen or games for handheld, any other good examples of handpainted graphics would be great too.
Thanks!
Gooner

I know that Afro samurai game had nice painted feel to it.
Valkyria Chronicles also has a nice effect.
Killer 7 also has a unique style.
Sword & Sorcery (for iPad)
Darwinia
Frozen Synapse
Revenge of the Titans
they used the style from the game out of this world.

Sort of. Out of this world (and similarly [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJyP5efESaI"]flashback[/ame]) used some sort of bizarre polygonal rotoscoping. While sword and sorcery is more crispy/clean pixel art.
Gameplay is certainly similar though.
The bright (almost blindingly so) coloring of Mirrors edge set it far apart from browngrey shooters of the time. Plus, they managed to put a lot of style in a very realistically looking game. Well, not super realistic, but definitely more realistic than Katamari.

And let's not forget the locally grown Pineapple Smash Crew, which tries it's damndest to convince my CPU that sprites are cooler than triangles. It manages to look retro while not relying on using crappy sprites for everything.
