Hi all,
Blender will be participating in the 'google summer of code' again this year. For those not familiar with GSoC - google funds students (university undergrads and graduate students) to work on open source projects - the student receives a stipend and receives mentoring by members of the opensource project that they work on. Last year google funded 17 students to work on Blender.
If you know of any talented programmers who might be interested in working on 3D software related projects over the summer please encourage them to apply for GSoC.
Here is a list of the ideas that we think might be good for students to try.

Of course if the student has an area of expertise or an interest not on the list, any well written proposal has a chance at being accepted.
Of course there are many other projects asside from Blender that a student could work on - here is the list of all accepted projects

And here is the listing for Blender.
