I typically use xnormal for baking the Polypaint from the high res onto the low res. I was wondering if there was any other 3d software out there that can import the vertex color from a Zbrush objs? I did some Googling and didn't see anything. It seems crazy that ONLY this free software can import the polypaint data....

So... how to you view it and bake it down? I have looked all over.
That is awesome! I havn't used 3D coat in a while. I may go back to it if that is the case... I really liked it before.
In the case of Max, you need to put up the Vexter Modifier, enable the material to support Vertex, and bake it out to another mesh, and it still might give issues.
You should probably strike XSI off the list, unless there's a plugin I don't know about. I've imported a LOT of obj's from zbrush in the past, and not a single one has ever come in with any form of vertex color property : /
I messed around with the Vertex color modifier but didn't mess with the material. Yuck. I think I will fiddle around with 3d coat... sigh....
Yeah it's messy, might as well not support honestly
Don't know why honestly...
its probably just in a different channel to the default. bring up the object properties and try changing it. If the data is in the mesh and can be rendered there is no reason the viewport wont be able to do it.
