making one part of the object "thinner" (3ds max)

Hello,

I am having trouble solving this issue. I need the handle of the pot to be thinner... if I select the polys, vertices or edges and scale them down, it scales also the dimensions of the handle.

Is there a way to make just the handle thinner without having to scale the selected polys?

Use a push modifier with negative value on that polygon selection, then collapse it.

Or you can scale the vertexes with constrain to normal turned on. Or scale the edge loops in all dimensions

the easiest way to do this is to select all the cross section loops and uniform scale in (only works in edge mode).
