Hi everyone. First post in a while here. I want to post my glam shots and progress of my TMNT sculpt WIP inspired by a series of paintings by
Dave Rapoza. I plan to start designing the body and posting my progress here.
Here is a color BPR with a little photoshoppery magic and a matcap BPR to see the sculpt detail. Enjoy!
(in case I didn't attach the images correctly, they live on cghub here:

Maybe just the eyeball itself could.... no wait, texture will do it : )
Great attention to detail
This is freaking cool, I love how you handled the expression. Banner material.
Not digging the chest strap it feels like plastic to me, but everything else is amazing!
This.
Amazing!
@LRoy: Thanks! Glad you like the concepts too : )
@itismario: I've already started!! I'll post some progress soon...
@C86G: Haha, thanks man. Textures will be rad, I cant wait to start!
@coots7: Thanks! I'm happy you dig it. I love how Dave made Leo so battle hardened and raw. I definitely want to stay true to his vision : )
@kevlar jens: Ha thanks! Cant wait to detail the body.
@eric.: Thanks!
@BeatKitano: What's wrong with my post title?! : D Haha, thanks for the compliments!
@duncan: I really tried to do Dave's work justice. (His is still cooler I think : )
@SnakeDoctor: I was thinking about posting some detail screens if there's more interest. Basically I used displacement for the fine detail and separate tubes for the frayed strings.
@KarlWang: Thanks!
@Chimp: Cool, thanks : )
@Thegodzero: Totally agree. A lot of it looks too shiny for my taste. But then again, it was a quick BPR. Textures will help resolve those issues down the road. Thanks for the feedback!
@spectre1130: Thanks a lot.
@Miche: Cool man! Glad you like.
@jramauri: I'm on it! Promise.
@Torch: Bahaha! Love the tears of joy : )
@Callesw: Schmoly! haha
@Ravenslayer: Thanks dude
@konstruct: My plan is working! The pooping of the masses has begun...
@drunksgt: Thanks. I did not get Dave's permission so-to-speak, but I did contact him before posting anywhere basically out of respect. I think it is important to notify the original artist, especially if the artist owns the creative property you want to model. They may be cool with it, they may not be.
I can't wait to see the rest
I
like
it
!!!
just a quick question by someone who only recently entered the realm of Sculpting with ZBrush etc.:
There are these fuzzy and torn areas of the eye-bandages and also at the sword's hilt. Did you really bother to snake-tool them out? Or which way is a start for subtleties like that? You know... it seems quite crazy to do it with methods I know so far
Cheers!
