Tencent Boston is looking for a talented Lead Concept Artist to join our team of developers. The successful candidate will be responsible for rendering both environments and characters, and will collaborate with other artists and game designers to visualize art direction and game play concepts for web-based games. Expertise as a leader is a key requirement for this position, as the candidate will manage our concept art team. The role reports to the studio Art Director.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Art Director and other team leads to create concept paintings following the established art direction.
Contribute high level of creative input and vision.
Work quickly and effectively and contribute to team progress.
Guide existing concept art staff to optimal levels of creative output and performance.
Collaborate with other artists, game designers and engineers.
Maintain and implement consistent organization, prioritization and communication.
Work with project managers to keep the game on track by meeting deadlines and managing workload effectively.
Share skills and techniques with other concept artists.
Requirements:
5-7 years experience in the game industry as a Senior or Lead Concept Artist.
At least 3 shipped titles in the games industry.
Ability to set the bar for quality and communicate that to others.
Demonstrated outstanding drawing and painting skills with a keen color sense.
Understanding of when to sacrifice quantity or quality to adhere to schedules and milestone deliveries.
Ability and willingness to create games that do not follow traditional game-art styles.
Expert level proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong capability to work in a creative and positive manner with the team.
Individual must be organized and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.
Pluses:
Experience with 3DSMax and Z Brush.
Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.
Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Illustration or Visual Design.
