I'm new here and pretty green to 3D modeling and have been wanting to model different things. I'm not sure where to start, however. I've been doing tutorials from Autodesk but those have not been helping me much and I don't have money to buy DVD's at this point but I don't want that to deter me from not modeling.
Any suggestions on simple things I should start modeling?
Thanks for help and feedback!

Thank you. I will check this out.
use editable poly instead of editable mesh and turbosmooth instead of meshsmooth etc.
Wow. Didn't see this. Didn't know to look there. Thank you.
Not exactly what I was looking for but there is a lot to learn from. Thank you very much.
First thing i modeled was in nurbs (kinda like the vector equivalent of 3d) using rhino 3d, and i was simply throwing primitives together and somehow working out how to make spline shapes and loft them to make weird organic shapes. But it was cool just making something.
Thanks. At this point, I'm just trying to make simple objects like kitchen stuff. Although you have given me the idea to play around with different things and see what happens...
