Hi everyone,
A great contest again, there's a lot of good entries
I want to join this contest with a demonic axe, this is just basic shapes, I will work on a better and colored concept later.
EDIT : concept & base mesh done
link to the first concept
(I know the eye is a bit stretched, it won't be on the final concept)
The idea is to make an axe with several organic human/demon parts. I want to make a hand, planted on a long stick that hold a big demon eye and make like the eye has taken possession of the hand. And finally, teeth and sort of bones have grrown up from the mix.
I collected images references for each part (I juste don't know what the blue part will be)
So what do you think about it ? crits are welcome
(and sorry for my english)

I know for the pommel, this part needs more work, but I didn't find the idea that would fit with the rest of my concept (that's why there's a blue "?" ^^ )
The pommel wasn't really defined, I chose to make like a twisted face with
spikes.
criticism and suggestions are welcome
i have some suggestions tough:
you could deform the eye a little so it looks like its really being squished and in pain because of the hand holding it.
maybe give the blades/wings am more bat-like design.
the leave- and berry-like thing doesn't really fit the darksiders style.
For the eye, that's what i did on this sketch but you're right, it's not really noticeable.
I will improve the points you mentioned on a better sketch, make it more consistent.
It's finished, it has 1492 tri, just need to get uv's done and I switch to zbrush ^^
what do you guys think about it ?
The only think is the bottom dangling part that ties off the hand, I don't know if that would be considered a floating bit? To me It's hovering in the air, otherwise this is good to go.
I also like how you planned ahead and made the lowpoly first, I've done this with some characters as a test and It worked out surprisingly well can't wait to see this with some color.
I imagined this as some sort of "living spikes" that would slowly move. You suggest that it should be fixed on the hand instead ?
This is my first weapon and i'm not familiar with retopology so I thought it would be a good idea to begin by the lowpoly model.
