Working on the Railroad?

Hello!
Does anyone know of a mel script (or a maya 2012 function) that can generate a railroad along a curve? I have to create many railroads in a work project and any help i can get would be greatly appreciated.

Right now i extrude two boxes along a b-curve and manually fill in the tracks.. takes forever and is not as accurate as i would like.

I don't know how Maya works, but that just sounds like a matter of rail cloning or instancing along a spline. It can be done in Max very easily, I'm sure Maya has a counterpart

you probably want to attach the rail to an animation path then use the snapshot feature to duplicate it along the path
