Maker-themed? The heads are looking pretty good, especially the second one.
My only critique of the design is that the cracked rock makes the shaft seem too fragile. I'd give it some reinforcement, or change the material entirely.
Fritzzz > Thanks for the reply, yes it's maker themed Ur right about the handle , I'll rework it to something more solid and put some colors in there during lunch tomorrow .
(4th one is current update) The center block of the waepon head will be pushed inwards more, can't really tell by this concept;
Hehe the bottom of your weapon is very similar to mine. In other words I think you're on the right track for "Maker".
I would add something visually interesting to the middle of the hammer head. The example we're given shows a tiny little skull. Perhaps you should try something similar.
Habboi > Very nice thanks, I actually missed that part
A friend suggested putting a 'smile' on the skull by putting the jaw in and open. It looks okey so I'm doubting if I should take this one or leave it at the original design of the skull (on the right of the concept).
Also, notice the eyes looking at you from the cracks on the front - sketch
I'll try carving some runes into the stone, possibly on the sides pieces of the inside.
Thanks for the feedback so far, going to push the concept a little more and then trying a blockout
Cheers m8, finally getting the hang of zbrush a bit..
Another hour or 2 of sculpting , done for today Like someone already told me, I really hope I can get all that detail to show in a 512 map lol
Well the detail is pretty large/chunky and I'm guessing you are gonna use a modular building method to make the hammer ends? If so, I'd say you will keep a good portion of detail.
Are you going to do a fancy sort of capital for the collar of your handle? I think a Ionic one would be pretty sweet.
Yea I've used Orb's cracked brush and the dynamic trim brush / clay brush. I'll check out Bobo's runes tomorrow, just made these from excisting ingame and concept art
Seems fair. If you're still looking for crits I'd say the bottom part looks a little wide. But only a little, you could scale it down if you wanted to.
Based it more on the other maker's mace Vigil made, and some other refs. I did try to make a white stone at some point, but it's really hard to do it in a correct way, like adding good shadowing etc without it looking like a simple AO bake ><
But yea, this is a bit closer to what I'm gonna end up with..couple of hours left for me

Good luck with the contest!

Either way I can't wait to see more!
Thinking of adding some support between the blocks (like melted iron or something), a colleague mentioned it looked a bit unstable still
Didn't get to make the final part, how fast an hour goes by...If only I didn't have to eat
Still got about 200 tris to add on this lowpoly..Enter the cut-tool;
(or a lunchbake I guess...)
Normal > Cavity & AO/Normal;
two days left for me to get some good texture painting done, glad it's weekend!
Just some color tests..still not quite digging it
Cause it might be nice to see a white stone weapon with yellow glowing.
But yea, this is a bit closer to what I'm gonna end up with..couple of hours left for me
Will update it after the contest, still want to tweak some more but that's for later
