I think I have so many problems doing line work in photoshop because my tablet area is so small. Is there a bigger but still cheap version of the original bamboo tablet (thats about $80)?
really? They cant make one just 2-3 inches bigger or something for at least $120?
Man
That buy.com one looks like an excellent price, you could also buy a used intous 3 on ebay. Lots of options on a limited budget really.
$200 is NOT a lot of money for a tablet. 8x5 is also a really good size, if you want cheaper you get one of the smaller bamboos, want bigger you pay a little more... its not that complex.
A little more? A small bamboo that is 5x3 is $80, why should 8x5 be $200?
Because the small one is meant for noobs and the larger one is meant for more advanced users? Honestly, the $200 version is not expensive at all, the small one is just ridiculously cheap. Whether its a new bamboo or a used intuos, a tablet is likely going to last you many years. The fact that you can buy a new, medium sized tablet for $150-200 is fucking awesome, not some sort of travesty.
Again, being a smartass. Is it so wrong that I thought I was possibly missing something by seeing a $120 price jump to the next version? I just wanted to double check.
Economics, Wacom has a niche product, they have professional level products and cheap models for people who are interested in their products but cannot justify more than $100. Obviously the larger bamboo is a product for artists who want more space but don't want an intuos, which a good price point for that is $200, its (almost) the same size as the medium intuos, that costs $350.
