Things have been moving along a little slow, think I have it pretty worked out now, time to get down to it. Decided to go for more of a webbing feel, as if the spider has made the weapon into its nest. Let's just see how this goes :-)
Amazing how much that improves the design. I didn't care for it before but I can really dig it now. The spider itself isn't particularly eyecatching though, so perhaps work a bit on making her POP a bit more.
haha im glad you used the spider on the end cause those critters were annoying in the first game. Now in the second game you can use this weapon with those spiders carcasses on the end! Keep up the good work
Looking good so far Eyo. Really push the silohuette where you can an always be thinking chunky. Draw with the thickest brush you think you can get away with before losing control.
as for spider design, have you looked at the nerubian or silithid things from the WC3/WoW universe?
Love the webbing idea. That's gonna look so slick.
alright super quick updated, started sculpting the base mesh a bit and am going a bit more detailed on the spider, will try and hit it hard tomorrow and see what I can manage.
Alright! I've been hitting this one pretty hard in the last few evenings and here is where I am currently @. Started to get a bit too micro on the hammerhead itself will probably pull back and simplfy it. Man, transposing that spider took forever and he still BARELY stays within the proxy :-) Gotta keep going...
Slight adjustments, big thanks to Fuse and JasonLavoie for the advice, brought the spider in a little closer for balance and simplified a bit, time to "get low"!
That's looking pretty nice! I like the concept. Did you check out the livestream demo that was on the contest page? I found it really helpful in getting me started texturing. If you have some time, check it out . Looking forward to seeing this finish.
Thanks 9th Knight, I totally agree the livestream demo gave me a good roadmap to work from. Anyways i am calling this one quits pretty happy with the result despite some pesky seams :-P Thanks for the comments everybody.
