thanks revan. i've pretty much settled on #1 without the babushka head scarf, but with the cooler colors on the straps from #3. i'll hopefully be able to get started on the model tonight. see how much i can get done between work and school before GDC.
Do like! Respect for going with crow temple, the feathers will be a nice switch-up compared to most of the other weapons being designed. Is the main skull going to be metal and will the bottom of the skull be a cutting edge?
Neongoat: the plan is for the skull to indeed be metal. i had thought about making the whole beak work as a cutting edge, but i suspect that narrowing it enough for that to make sense might look a little awkward. we shall see. failing that, though, i'll treat it more like a pick-axe with the cutting edge below it.
zeroslave: that first setup of feathers is growing on me the more feedback i get.

crow - needs feathers, dammit.
temple - more culture/religious based design work
problem: don't want to push to far towards core style.
trying to find that happy medium between too much and not enough. me-thinks number 2 perhaps.
