I'd like to see you evolve number 1. Can't really see what the weapon's supposed to be but I like the idea of incorporating a character bust along with surrounding ornaments and holy scriptures.
Otherwise number 5 was pretty slick as well.
Yeah, I got carried away with number one before just blocking out base thumbnails like I should have. The idea behind number 1 was to have the wing be the main part of the hammer with the bust of an angel to make up the center. The halo would have constellations imprinted on it and the area to the right would be a block of scripture.
I didn't even get around to make a full handle for it but it would be the top of a heavy hammer like the rest.
most def! But the more I look at this, the more I wish it were not symmetrical. I feel like the left side could be like twice as big with a similar yet different hammer. For some reason symmetrical and demonic don't go well together IMHO.
Yeah, I can see the issue with symmetry. I'll doodle some stuff up tomorrow and see what I come up with. For now though, I did a quick color test. Nothing final, just trying some things out.
cool! I really like what you did with red fleshy stuffs. I wonder if that blue is too bright overall. Stands out in a weird way to me against the red. Maybe if it were just tinted much darker?
I didn't get much of a chance to work on this today but I tried making it a bit more asymmetrical. Some things I'm going to test out later are replacing the bindings on the right to look more like fleshy tendrils, removing the yellow eyes at the top to see if the weapon looks more cohesive without them, and creating a better end cap that matches the demon motif. Also, just messing around with different color patterns. I need to lock this down in the next few days though so I can start modeling.

I'm going to do a drawing test tomorrow on #8 and see if I can push the concept a bit more. Tonight I decided to explore #1 a bit.
T.
Still have a way to go designing this as well as throwing in some color for tests. Figured I'd post my process before going out to eat.
