What a great incentive to get back into the flow, big love to the guys at Vigil!

Bit of a mixed bag of thumbs here (some alchemy scribbles), probably going to go with some kind of axey thang but nothing certain yet. So glad it's nearly the weekend so I can sink some actual time into this, hyyyype.



Tough to decide which theme to follow, I feel like kingdom of the dead might end up being a bit oversubscribed so maybe Crow temple (only so much you can do with a grow skull though right?) or smushy-organic-demonic.

These are all pretty demonic, as is hopefully evident.

i like 3 the best, but it looks like it lacks a strong focal point. maybe if the eyes were bigger, or had some nice elephant wrinkles around them to push the beadiness

Personally I think all of them would be dope, however number five seems to stand out to me, just because its almost screaming for you to put an eye in that crevice, it's kindof a cliche I guess but i think it'd look pretty cool, keep it up

I think number 6 has the best silhouette and looks 'chunky' enough to sit in the darksiders world. Love the spikes/teeth sticking up around the Handle Transition area.

Thankyou all for the input, much appreciated! I really didn't want to go with the eye-in-crevice device, it seemed too obvious but hopefully going with MANY eyes will switch things up a bit.



(I should really start working on the whole weapon and not just the head huh?)

Just when I thought I had narrowed down the selection! I'm sure elements from all of them will end up getting smooshed together (in a demonic and gruesome manner) in the final design.

Good stuff! The one with the many eyes looks cool. That spike on the back with the 7 spikes sticking up out of it kind of looks like a monster's bottom jaw with snaggly teeth coming out of it. I like 0, but I'd say I like the hooked part at the top of the blade on the first one. #6.

Please excuse my lackluster rendering, I'm just itching to get on and sculpt this guyyy. Most of the details will probably change during sculpting, same for the colours but have at it anyway!

Thanks Minsk, I imagine that the eyeballs would all swim about and wink and such. So, just to prove I haven't abandoned ship here is the sculpt so far, straight up from a dynasphere because it is far too fun not to .
Very early days but all crits and ideas appreciated.

Ugh, not happy with the state of this. Back to the drawing board (not even figuratively) I think. Thoughts?

The weakest area of the sculpt is the center of the head imho. The blade and the pommel both have pretty good shapes though. Your concept on the right looks good to me, if you can match that on the sculpt I think it could turn out pretty well.

You could still make it work. But if you are confident that you'll get a new (maybe better) design up and running on time I'd say go for it. This one still looks good though, But you could try giving the thing more waight. The thing also seems to be made entirly from one material. Maybe try adding in some other material like spikes or something.
