In a way it's a shame we can't form small teams of two. There seems to be people who can't draw but can model well and concept artists who can't model.
Really sweet design though! The first concept I've seen so far to use chains in a good way seeing as we can't have wobbly bits.
Awh man, agreed with habboi, that's a really awesome looking sketch. Man, makes me really wish there WAS some kind of co-op competition. 2d artists teaming up with 3d artists... could be beautiful.
you know, i dig this design a lot with the rest of the fellas, but im surprised no one pointed out that circle holding the blades. its rad but it looks super flimsy. im having a hard time believing that the axe head wouldnt wobble or break if used. id suggest either solidifing that center either with a few struts (idk if that make sense?) or make it one solid medallion piece (less cool imo, but less likely to break.) after typing this and double checking the concept, i guess the chains are doing what i suggest but id push that a bit. either way, solid work man, good luck with zbrush!
OK here goes...keep in mind that im new to this 3d thing, any tips or feedback would be greatly appreciated. If anyone can help me figure out how to knock out the top of that torus beers on me!
here's some ways i use depending on situation. Convert to dynamesh, use insert cube brush and hold alt and control drag will erase the part you want or... select area with a mask go to polygroup options and group by mask. hide it then delete hidden then close holes button... or take it into max and delete from there and bring it back into zbrush. some of these might require you to delete your subdivision but you can always try to reconstruct them or you can reproject the detail back on
Dynamesh is pretty cool- stolenpants has a good suggestion there.
Being new to this 3d thing, I'll suggest working with a different matcap- everyone has their preferences with that though, matcap grey is pretty good as far as defaults go. Brush wise- I really like orb's crack brush orbart.free.fr/Orb_Cracks.ZBP, it's great for cuts/sharpening edges. Along with that, some of my favorite brushes are claybuildup, claytubes, trim dynamic, and hpolish. I don't know how much you do know, but I wish someone had told me that when I started using zbrush. My first sculpt was 100% standard brush XD
Edit: Oooo! And don't forget about the inflate tool!
Daaaamn! If only I could have an eigth of that skill to finish up my concept!
Impressive and gorgeous work right there. If the 3d versions comes even close to that, there's no doubt that you'll find yourself in the ranks of the finalists.
jealous feelings being suppressed like crazy, but i have a critique! so that spike coming out at you on the z-axis... it def needs to be a lower jaw, right?! skachow! i am kinda missing the chains coming from the skull mouths but honestly u've got the most impressive concept and my favorite (hopefully i'll like my own more but since i have neither made one yet and am so attracted to yours i think i'm outta luck heh )

Lovely concept, I hope you can get something decent done, would be a shame if this wouldn't see the light of day.
Hope you manage to create this one in 3d
Bad. Ass.
That looks killer dude.
Very inspiring.
great design
Hugo im only the man because you're my rolemodel!
...my mark of thinking I was going to do an axe...
If you can translate this badassery really well into 3D I'd cry out of happiness.
I don't know how... you're like using your natural talents or something... but I've got my eye on you...
Exactly, u can't toss this here thinking polycounters won't be pushing you to finalize it :P
So get to learn that shitty interface!
And jump in the pool regarding 3d.
I did it very recently too.
This, plus we can try and answer questions you might have about zbrush
hope you pull it off in 3d
Absolutely dropdead gorgeous work!
Great start! Lets see that sculpt!

As for the 3D I'm going to start it again from scratch based on some good feedback. I'm also going to check out Bobo's livestream video.

Good luck on that.
