Interested to hear it doesn't have to be a continuous mesh. I thought intersecting geo risked rendering errors, but maybe it's not an issue on a static mesh?
Edit: I know there's some massive skulls in the example designs I'm just wondering in the context of them being actual skulls made of bone and not shaped from rock or metal
I hope no one asked this yet, and I didn't just pass over it.
I just want to understand clearly.
In regards to texturing, is it a 512 diff, 512 spec, and a 512 norm; or is it a 512 total diff, spec, and norm?

512 each.
Other question: Weren't there supposed to be submission threads by now?
errrr...if im properly deciphering what you're asking... yes, you can use marmoset, but you don't have to. just no crazy HDR or other production rendering. As close to real time render as possible.
so I have a four faced hammer and I've gotten it down to 1826, I have a feeling I'm cutting it close but would that work or do I have more cutting to do?
@irritated1
Bobo said during his live stream weapon sculpt that if you go over a little it would be fine. 1826 is not a little unfortunately. I feel even 1600 would be pushing it in a contest with this low of a poly count when your competitors are hitting 1500 and below.
Is turning shadows on in Marmoset considered advanced? I'm wondering if people would view the use as unfair since it makes the models look a little better.
Im not taking part in this contest but in the submission rules it said: "Post your names" and thats probably primarily for the credits (I assume). But some just posted their nicknames (or no name at all). Is that acceptable or will that be a reason for disqualification?
Because wouldn't it complicate things legally if they had to "pass" the copyright on from for instance xXxLegolasSlayerxXx to Vigil?
Jokes aside, just wanted to ask so that nobody gets disqualified for something like that.

For example, this is the first boss in Darksiders 1.

Crashing Geo? ok or not ok? .. I know Bobo mentioned the mesh was one solid mesh. But not sure if it was specifically stated we can/can not crash geo.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance!

You have ~18.5 hours stating now.
