Quayle. Gnome Cleric from the first Baldur's Gate.
A clue could be in the fact that the site is registered to former bioware employee Trent Oster now of http://www.beamdog.com/ who recently remastered biowares own MDK2, which currently is the property of interplay.
Atari are the one with the rights to the baldurs gate games though.
And aye, if there'll be a new one, then I'll be drooling all over it, but they better not fuck it up! Cooooo!
And no idea who would be developing it, or of it's just a joke, but the countdown apparently follows GMT -7, so that's somewhere around central amercia/middle of US.
I hope they give us the Baldur's Gate experience and not: Neverwinter Nights. Dragon Age Origins. Maybe because of the switch to 3D they haven't quite managed to get that sense of massiveness? Although BG was story driven, you could go anywhere on the map and find new places when really underpowered, like when I got owned by the mermaids on the coast. Or the giant green bugs you'd make armour out of. One of the hardest yet most rewarding games that I've ever played.
Not quite enough new stuff to tempt me to play through again. But highly recommend to any old school RPG fans. The sequel is one of my top games of all time.

Well it feels like they took most of the stuff the fans did already and just resold it. I am all for keeping BG alive, but they barely did anything worth while. At least thats the way it seems.
Hm, sounds really interesting. BG2 was one one of my top fav games, but i never got to play BG1, so i guess that's a great chance to finally play it...
Heh, i can still remember bg2 main menu theme...man, good old days....
So exicted about this! But also worried that they might pull a Lucas and destroy some awesome chilhood memories

Never finished BG2, feckin massive game :O Although I thought Icewind Dale was awesome, the background music when you got to Kuldahar made it feel so atmospheric

Could be a fan going nuts.
hahaha, with dubstep!
funny hats and collectibles are also a must, and so is the quest direction arrow.
oh, and super spectacular slow-mo death animations please.
"Boo go FUCK him up in the eyes" in jim cummings' voice...
Funny thing is I called my hamster Boo just after the one from BG

Bioware don't have the rights to the game as far as I know.
I'm not so sure I would want them to though.

I'm curious to know who they ended up hiring to make their initial teaser art.

Suppose the server really is down.
Also it's an exclusive title for the Beamdog service only sadly.
