For a university project we were tasked to create a simple game level. We were only taught how to use the BSP tools within the game engine. So alot of learning and frustration went into this to work things out, the materials are very simple Maya materials imported into the engine via the .fbx.
We had about two weeks to do it so very simple meshes were made, wish i had more time to research how to use it properly.I learnt alot of Kismet through this , as all the doors are animated and keys etc to open them.
I hope for my next level that i can explore alot more into the material editor to make it feel a bit more full of life.
Our next project is pretty much the same but have a whole 2 months on it,which is brilliant,so can make use of Zbrush and normals maps and make it alot more detailed.
The story behind this map is that you awaken in a Robot lab and have to escape.
very influenced by the art style of Mass Effect, Portal etc.
Please critique, as it will only help me improve

Not a big deal, since your just getting the hang of UDK, and it sounds like you explored Kismet a bit, but next time..your going to want to do a lot more, art wise.
notice how all the rooms have loads of stuff. yours has an open space. you need like microscopes, robot checking machines etc etc
good luck tho dude
I didn't really work from any concepts just the idea in my head, so I guess it shows, for my next project i'm going to take the same design but work into it more as I have a lot more time to experiment etc.
