Ok, I know no one here will give me a especific value, but even reading several articles about that, I still have a lot of questions and maybe "insecurity" when charging for a work.:(
At the moment, I have the following situation: A medium company (not a game one) asked me to do a container for a small project.
This container must be able to be opened from the sides and front along the hinge lines. It has specific dimensions, both internal and external. It will have two set of textures; one for a rusty container and one of a clean container.
Maximum poly count: 10000 tris.
They didn't give me a deadline, just asked me a approximate time of completion.
I never did a "true" freelance work, before that I did some works for students.
My questions are: Which factors should I consider when charging for a freelance work, and specifically for this work? Should I charge per hour? What is the "base price" per hour, judging my lack of experience in the industry? Is there any article that I should use as a guide?
Any advice will be appreciated:)
PS: Sorry for my bad english.

Just throwing a number at you. You gotta pay for rent, utilities, car, gas, loans, food, and personal, right? You need to make enough to handle that. Of course, don't tell them your number then back it up with those reasons of course.
It's always about your qualifications and how well you will perform on the project and all that good stuff. Even with low experience your portfolio is strong enough for any "medium company" to be happy.
How long will this take you?
How long SHOULD this take you?
Are you doing this for the money?
Are you doing this to pad your portfolio?
How excited are you to be working on this project?
These are all very important questions you will be asking yourself now, and some of them more when you actually are devoting your afternoons and nights working on something you may not be overly excited for T_T
