For one of my modules at uni ive been tasked with creating a prehistoric creature that will be rigged using cat rigging and then imported into the unreal engine. Ive decided to create the velociraptor and have created a concept based on the idea of it being a mount, this idea could however be scrapped depending on the progress of my other modules and FYP and just a velociraptor being created. Any critiques and suggestions are very much welcomed and appreciated.
Concept
The base mesh has been constructed and is shown below, though a few of the features on the face have been moved in zbrush to fix the errors with the anatomy.
Sculpt
The current progress on the sculpt, a lot of the underlying features have been changed to facilitate the anatomy a bit better, mainly on the face. Atm im just playing around with different effects seeing which i currently prefer.
Replies
they've been as tall as a medium sized dog, also one thing to consider is that it's now pretty much proven, that they had feathers, not only them but pretty much all of their speciment, so besides you are doing a fantasy creature i would think it would be pretty badass to do a game version of a feathered raptor. As he is so tall you can ride him, i'd suggest to grab some reference for a utahraptor, they've been pretty tall.
Also find some references of the skeleton from the front and the top, usually the 3d renditions of raptors are too wide in body and head.
Also using masking and the layer tool is really fast for making custom scale designs , good luck with the rest!
As for crits you've missed of the funky lump they have around their groin area.

Haven't been working on this as much as i'd of liked to as i been busy with final year project but ive done a small update. Crits and Suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated.

Ive obviously still got a bit of work to do on the diffuse but the majority is complete, also there is probably a bit too much unused space in my unwrap but due to time running out i need to get as much done as possible.
Ive done a bit more on the project but i want to wait before posting to see what you guys currently think, though my time is running short with it being due in 3 weeks time.
Its all pretty much set up in the Unreal Engine, ive uploaded for anyone who would be willing to test it for me, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Ive created a self extracting archive for ease of install, read the readme file for installation instructions.
