I recently finished a semester as University where I created a level using the Unreal contents. Looking back I could have used speed tree but being a novice at the time it slipped my mind.
I also created some of my own assets for this level (which did not get put in due to time constraints). I would really like to thank Andrew Hackathorn for his help and advice as this was my first time baking high poly work down to low (properly).
I like your scene though it doesn't really have a focal point. Let me try and explain. Whenever I create a concept sketch/painting I try to have it tell a story. Something that has happened or will happen or simply something that makes my scene alive. Much of this you can achieve by creating composition.
I have worked with UDK for some time now and I have found out after a lot of trial and error that this same compositional thing works for UDK. However straight forward this sounds, I didn't realise it and felt stupid. And that is exactly what your scene lacks. It doesn't tell me anything. So far it's a show off of certain skills you have obtained in the process of making the scene but it doesn't show you know composition and lighting.
Thank you very much for that feedback PHArt. I can defintely see you point with the over all composition. As for the lighting I copped out by using the preset but I will be looking into the areas you mentioned as these are the areas which sell the game.
There is very little to evaluate and the stuff that is there is not viewable in an engine like UDK. You used UDK to create an environment. I would like to see your models in that environment or maybe in an entirely new one. Also, don't shy away from putting more information about the models, texture sizes, wireframes and all that good stuff. That's what everyone really looks at.
Also, this is something from my own preference and it's fully up to you if you decided to change that or not, but I prefer to write about myself in first person.
i totally agree with Phart. i was more impressed by the assets in the scene then the scene itself. its just a camera moving through a place with nice trees and plants.
PHArt I will ammend the website later tonight because I strongly agree that you need information on the models. I chose to write it in 3rd person because when I read through some biographies people come off a bit arrogant in a way trying to list their life acomplishments etc. I just thought if I tried it this way I could describe it in a clearer than in my own words.
Ack Master: Glad you like the assets (I hope you were reffering to my models not the UDK package inside the level ).
nathanbarrett: This is not the 'night and day' UDK level but it is the same assets from that package
If there's anything you feel I should add to my portfolio please let me know cheers

Also, your link is dead.
Hope this works http://cg3d.carbonmade.com/ sorry about the butchered link.
Would be nice to get some feedback on my work such as areas of improvement or other elements to add
