Hey guys.
So I haven't posted a WIP thread in a long time but I'm starting a game environment for school so I thought I would make one.
The concept below was taken from cghub. As far as I know it was done by Jonathan Kirtz for warhammer.
http://cghub.com/images/view/77532/Summary of what I plan to create
- Create a full environment
- Make use of modular design
- Make the statue the point of focus using the lighting from the candles
- Change some of the details on the statue
- Emphasize the high ceiling
- Dark lighting to create a sort of evil lair feel
Here is my blockmesh with a quick vray lighting pass. I don't plane on rendering it in vray but I'm more comfortable lighting in that than any of the other Maya renderers. I made this early on so I can choose where to spend more time and where the lighting and camera angle won't show as much.
This is my most recent screen from maya. It's what my teacher calls an "Artist's Blockmesh". So I guess it is a more detailed blockmesh. From here I going to be cutting out the modular pieces and making the low poly meshes. I've already started with the highpoly sculpt of the statue. I'll post that as soon as I get a full pass in.

So everything needs to be taller, and more stretched upwards! Good work so far ! can't wait to see more!
Chris I see what you mean. I added some more space in the center of the pillar height and adjusted the scale of the guy.
I agree with chrisradsby, take more time and lay this out a bit better, it'll help you complete this faster.
But since you posted your thread first, I guess that gives you the one up.
