Hi guys - Ive recently been assigned a project which involves creating a dinosaur and then displaying it in UDK.
After a few hours thinking about which dinosaur should be attempted to model I decided to try to recreate the famous T-Rex. I started this project by researching 'original styled' T-Rex's like the one below (and documentaries like Planet Dinosaur) rather than the overly exaggerated ones which are seen in Jurassic Park
After doing a fair bit of research and creating a few different design sheets the base mesh was then modelled in 3ds Max. (Shown below)
As you can see it contains quite a few tri's but this was because I wanted to ensure that its features were prominent rather than it looking like a big blob.
With the base mesh completed the next step was to export it to ZBrush.
Sculpting the model in ZBrush was definitely the most dreaded part of the assignment as I dont really have any experience with the package.
Anyways this is how far I am at the moment with my sculpt.
Feedback and C&C is more than welcome.

k'When i said 'original' what i meant was that my model wasn't going to have a load of spikes and emphasized scales such as the image below (although it does look bad ass!!)
Thank again
Feedback is welcome
thanks guys!
Well, from your model, it's looking pretty good so far. There are two things that stick out to me thought. The first being the geometry on the back of the leg. I would exaggerate the calf muscles more and make them protrude, and then have them taper down into the joint at the back of the foot.
Also, the outsides of the feet are looking a little too angular and don't have enough curvature.
I've tried to adjust the calf muscles and the feet and this is how it currently looks. I've also added more detail to the skin.
Advice more than welcome
Cheers.
feedback is appreciated

I like! Detail in the sculpt is really nice. Personally would not have chosen them colours for the texture - but hey, that's just me!
Good job!
1. Eyes. The red eyes don't seem to match at all. He doesn't look evil because of them, only incredibly high.
2. Skin detail. No one really knows what kind of skin dinosaurs had, but based off of general Tyrannosaurus Rex stereotypes, his skin is more lizard-like with scales while yours is very leathery and wrinkly, like a Brontosaurus or some other sauropod rather than the vicious theropod. I'd almost like to pet your Trex (except for the eyes).
Other than that the proportions are good and the Trex definitely reads as a Trex. The coloring for me doesn't work...but its kind of a preference thing. T-rexes have gotten away with Blue, brown, grey, red, and even green. But something about two very saturated colors in it make something about him clash.
I've taken it all into account and decided to redesign the texture to try and do the model more justice.
This is how it is currently looking in the UDK engine.
