So I was going through some old folders and came across all the work I had done in my first 3d class ever. Needless to say, it was good for a laugh, and it's kinda motivational seeing how far I've come.
I'm interested to see how many of you have kept your older or even first pieces around. So how bout it, let's see some of your first attempts at game art.
First High Poly
First Sculpt
Some of my first models
First Texture (picture's of my roommate at the time, lol)

these are my actual first models ever... embarassing
Teachers in my school said this was the best 3d art they ever saw. Posted here and realized how full of crap they were.
I think I painted the mouth on in photoshop or something.
naturally my first models were weapons. XD i made these back in 2006 with the hope to put them in a Star Wars: Jedi Academy....Lord of the Rings total conversion mod. The mod never got finished but this is what i did.
my personal fav
and some in game (star wars) shots
the green wookiee did actually get released in a map pack. i made rainbow wookiees for the pack. its always good to look back on things.
._.
I was quite the pro early on in college.
I guess this is technically my first "real" model, as it was textured and working in a game editor. Made for Serious Sam the First Encounter I was going to have him escape a level I was making by jumping into a starfighter. the texture seems to have been corrupted over the years and my first UVs were, well...
1st model 2 years ago..
2nd model in that same week:
First zSculpt, Last week:
circa 2004
I had a deep love for making weapons
There all I had ever found joy in making
First model in XSI
I think this was my 4th in XSI
First model Using Maya (Me and XSI lost touch during this time)
This was a HUGE Ngon i didnt know shit about quads
Massive skip to my 110th/111th Model made them both the same day about a year ago
Theres sooooo much trail and error Crap between these select few
Only learned from Mayas documentation as Youtube was and still is a bad resource
A thoroughly unimpressive hovercraft that was all but indistinguishable from a wooden shoe or a Chevy alternator.
The lack of really terrible art in here is kind of disappointing. Let me fix that problem. This here is my first game model from back in 2002:
Apparently she has a breastplate made from some street signs and the tops of a pair of fire extinguishers.
That's the first model I ever completed. Still not bad really, even though it was a simple car. I didn't UV it though, because I was lazy haha.
(Incoming sarcasm!) I made an epic catherdral! And I didnt even need to UV it ¬_¬
Also First (and only!) character model!
Dated: Jul 02, 2009
5-6 Months after my first works I created this guy as an art-test at the place I'm working now. (It failed and I didn't get in)
Dec 13 2009
Haha good times! good thing I got picked up by Evolution Studios and later made my way into Massive.
first ever character model, think I was still at Uni, maybe 2006, then left 3d alone for ages as I got scared haha
then returned to 3d in 2008 with my first normal mapped character haha
then ARRRRRGGGGHHH - this got me my first industry job though in early 08

Hes got a front-butt!
The earliest thing I can find that I made on purpose for a project is this guy. Was during my anime phase and we were required to use splines to model. One of the most painful learning experiences ever but I'll tell you what, I understand exactly how bezier curves work now. Both are from 2004
..... gosh these are embarrassing.
But this is the oldest thing I do have, from early 2000, I think.
I also stole his head from Turbosquid.
Also, I stole this entire skeleton from Turbosquid and just modeled the equipment:
Sadly, i dont have anything recent i can post. buuut, here.
This is my VERY FIRST model EVER.
then some stuff done close to the first.
That character wasnt modelled by me. It was our first major texturing assignment in class. haha
(see attached for tank pics)
My own hand, modeled and sculpted in Zbrush for class this quarter
75mm Pack Howitzer, did this last quarter and got a c on it, it needs alot of work lol
A sci-fi crate i made this quarter, i was having so much trouble baking it i never finished the project -_-, after about 8 hours of watching tutorials and 10 hours practicing, i now know about 4 different ways to bake a hi-poly lol
