I exported my UDK terrain mesh as an OBJ file, and when I import it into maya, I can't seem to soften Normals... I've tried unlocking normals, deleting history.... Its getting really frustrating! any ideas!??!
hm, hard to tell, there are many possibilities....is it possible that vertices are not merged? Maybe you have 2 or more vertices on the same place, but not combined? Also, did you set the angle at wich they get smoothned?
I think it would be best for starters, if you make it that border edges are much thicker, that way, you can see if there are some weird things going in with geometry.
