Still working on this but was testing out the best way to render out my high poly models, So here it is so far. I know the render makes it look final, but there is still alot more to do. Most of the reciever detail is modeled in, minus a few indents.

Trying to get a nice render style in order to put together a portfolio, which will hopefully go with the websites design.

EDITWIRE:

Crits/comments would be nice. Cheers.

Looks pretty good. Posting a reference of yours would make it easier to crit. But two areas to look at, the rear grip and (sorry I don't know the proper names of the parts of the gun) front grip?(The front part colored like wood) The edges of the rear grip are much more round then you currently have yours. And the front grip, the smoothing on yours has a few creases along the bottom where this one has more of a smooth flow. (Basing the crit off this reference)

As far as your render I think it looks pretty good, perhaps the shadows could be lightened up just a hair.

@CyberGameArts: Thanks. The thing with 3D is there is always something new to learn, you never stop learning. It's hard to tell someone new to 3D what to do because it's such a gradual learning process. You are in the right place anyway, the polycount wiki is a great resource. And CGTuts.com has some gems. Just keep modeling and if your passionate enough, you will improve.

@Dismembered: Thanks for the crits and will take them on board. I believe your image is an airsoft though, they tend to be more curvy and toyish looking. Will see what I can do. :D

Looking pretty good so far, your missing the mag release button though :D. Keep posting!

Looking good, lets see the LowPoly! how many tris are you going to aim for? Are you going to texture it clean and new, or go for an old grungy used look?

look at more refs, main receiver and front foregrip are much too wide. also your edges are just a bit thin for baking.

@Mr. Brightside: Yeah definitely aware of this. Thanks!

@JohnnyCrespo: Still wip so some things arnt modeled yet.

@Korrax: Gonna start the low poly when I've finished another project. Not really thought about a budget but hopefully under 10k rougly.

@Racer445: Yeah thanks for the crit, this was actually inspired by your AK74U tutorial even though it's practically vanished from the web lol.. I will see what I can do with the edge sharpness, the render is made up of a few compositions and sharpen passes so may be the reason for them looking oversharp.

Thanks for the feedback. I am juggling this with another project so will post again when I have something.
