So, I was working in Zbrush, and began polypainting. I was having no difficulties, and continued to work. Suddenly, my entire mesh turned a flat grey color, and I was unable to see any of the detail I was working on. When I look at my subtools, I still see the polypaint details in the preview windows for each subtool. No matter what I do, including redrawing the tool in a new document, I just end up with a flat grey silhouette. I have tried to resolve this problem by messing with the light settings, render settings, and by assigning a new material to the mesh. When I load earlier versions of the mesh, it still has the detail and displays normally. Is there any way I can salvage my polypaint, or do I have to start over from a previous save version? Thanks.

I've been getting this occasionally since updating; it's pretty annoying. Try saving the tool (different file name), restart zbrush and load it in. I think that worked for me once.
