I am on the look out for real-time artists that fulfill the categories below and not environment, concept or character art as they are very well supported on Polycount and other forums. Please feel free to add a skillset I have not listed.
As you can see they work really hard but I would like to help those students that are finding it hard to see what the quality bar should be for their specialized portfolios.
I can see why the students find it hard to find weblinks & showreels to artists that chose to specialize in real-time FX, Technical, Rigging, Lighting, Animation ect as I have not had much luck?
I constantly get asked by the industry for students with very specialized portfolios and the few that do have a focused portfolio always get the jobs.
Below are some example student showreels which demonstrate specialized showreels to give you an idea of what I am talking about. While I fully appreciate that "real-time" is not the be all and end all, I feel that 30-40% of a showreel would help. Well at least it did when I used to interview people before becoming a lecturer and thats a view shared by my indsutry guest speakers. They say it just gives you the confidence that the graduate can land with his feet running.
It really helps my students when I show them environment, character and asset portfolios and you can see the results I am currently getting at level 2. http://davenolan.co.uk/ and last years gradate http://scotthomer.co.uk/
I am happy with the modelling direction on the course but now I want to expand into other areas. Currently I am going through AAA credits and trying to see what I can find but not much is coming up. Going through Moby for example and then searching the key names. http://www.mobygames.com/game/bulletstorm
