Hey everyone, I'm new here but I love these forums and can't wait to meet people and get active
I'm currently a sophomore in art school and was hoping to get critiques and feedback on my stuff.
Right now I'm working on a ZBrush/Maya character model based on a fantasy-world messenger/secret assassin character I made up awhile ago. The base anatomy is pretty much done except for the face, hair, and some details, and the clothes are just about done except for ridges and detailing as well.
It's my first time using ZBrush and I've been having trouble adding ridges and detail on the boots and vambraces because they're so low-poly, but when I divide them to a higher poly the edges all separate from one another. Using the masking pen for ridges hasn't worked on them either since it selects entire polygon faces, and the faces are too large 8\ I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?
Any crits or suggestions you have would be awesome!

Feedback would be much appreciated!
Some of the forms, in particular the shoulder armor, are just large shapes with very little silhouette or design, and then etched with small detail. Consider the overall shape first, then layer the mid-details, and only when that is all working do the etching details.
The proportions seem decent. The legs are a bit skinny and the torso seems long, although it is largely hidden so I could easily be wrong about that.
The xylophone on her abdomen is strange. I know it's not a xylophone, but I can't actually tell what it is. I assume it's clothing, I think those bars might be fasteners, but it does not read particularly well. If they are fasteners, use wrinkles and folds in the cloth to indicate tension. Give us some visual clues to deconstructing your design.
Keep it up.
She's wearing layers of clothing and armor, so her body should be thicker than if she was naked. I think you have her waist at the right point, but right now she has manly hips.
@ysalex: I can see what you mean about the silhouette. I think the silhouette works a bit better on the character sheet, so I'll try to exaggerate it more. The bars are supposed to be the ribbons on her corset, but I'll see what I can do to make them read less xylophonesque, haha.
@inside and dirigible: I'll definitely make her hips wider, she is looking a bit manly.
