New rig... keep old GTX260?
I am looking to build a new rig. I'm currently looking at:
Intel i7- 2600k
16GB Corsair 1800 ram DDR3
Asus P8z68-v pro
Usual suspects... New case, PSU... probably a BluRay drive for fun
I have in my current PC a GTX260. From reading posts from the last few months it appears any new Nividia card, 4** or 5** is pretty terrible for 3DS Max / Maya. Infact the best Nvidia card seems to be the GTX 285.
Would it be sensible to keep my 260 and notice the speed increase in ZBrush etc from the new processor and ram?
I'm not sure if this is possible, can I buy a nice GTX580 and run both cards? One for gaming and one for 3D? Can you force a program to use one specific card?
If this is the case I could look at buying a new GTX580 at a later date and game with my 260 for now. 3D work is my priority for this new PC. Possibly put some of my 3D card budget towards a faster processor.
