does an employer/recruiter care what sort of email you use? im not referring to the name, but the host i guess its called. for example would gmail be better over hotmail or is it all personal preference?
i have two emails, ones hotmail and its old and for personal crap, while my other one is for job hunting and is
s.neill@live.ca - i dont see too many
@live.ca accounts around and am curious of the impact it has with people contacting you.
also curious if people who have contact me sections on their portfolio, specifically the ones that allow you to type a message and send the email right then and there.... do recruiters use them? or do they just copy the guys email address and go into there own hotmail or w/e they have and send off there questions/art test that way??
like the title says, iv always been curious of this and never thought to ask anyone. but polycount seems as good a place as any to ask : )

It can be helpful to have your name in the email address just so its easy to keep track of.
Out of all the things I would be worried about this ranks pretty low on the priority list, probably something to worry about after everything else is spot on perfect.
I just saw one of those today and I did chuckle...
What I do recommend is having an email dedicate for work and have the name short and easy to remember for your clients. Something like art@gmail.com
I think Ben's a very rare exception at being able to get away with that.

Personally I'm glad he went with another name... Maybe he still does game art on the side or as a hobby? I don't really know, every time I agreed with him on something he thought I was picking a fight so we really don't keep in touch...
