Hello Polycount, my name is Elias Frost and this is my first thread and first post on Polycount. I live in Sweden and I'm an independent and freelancing conceptual artist. This here is my wee little sketchbook, where I show my work for you guys and I would love to hear your honest opinion about it.
I MIGHT also post some 3D models although that's not my main area of expertise.
Here is my first, work in progress character design, a desert wanderer, I'm currently working on the legs.

And here is the finished character. It ended up as some kind of mage(?). I think he looks ok, I got a bit lazy on the legs (which you can see, they are mirrored) but I got my point through. What do you think?
I like your style, but I think you need to study alot of anatomy of bodies and faces. If you incorporate realistic studies with your own personal style you will grow as an artist!
And do some rendering and material studies of objects, like a photograph of an actual medieval helmet, to get the sense of lightning and shadows on different objects.
You´re on a good start, keep up the flow!
I never intended to put a face inside the mask at first, but then I sort of just squeezed it into the picture. I think it looks bland and out of proportion too, I will take your suggestion into account the next time I draw a face. Thanks!
Thank you, I'm not too sure about the cloth cover at the back though, I could have made it a bit less stiff. Thanks anyway!
@Cheese_Shinobi Yay Sweden!
Funny that you say that, I just started reading some old anatomy books a few days ago :P. I'm going to take your suggestion about material into account, that has always been bugging me (metal, clothing, organic etc.). I will post an attempt of each in the next coming days.
Thank you very much, I will!
The legs are a bit too long on this one though, I think I should have left it at the fifth break.
And here is the last one, an observational drawing of a brass mortar that I found in my kitchen:
The mortar drawing is very rough and could use some polishing though.
Tell me what you think please! I would love to hear what you have to say!
Thanks!
