This fantasy crap is really getting on my nerves. Theyre all the same. Does anyone know of any true medieval mmorpgs? They don't have to be pure, I consider lord of the rings to be a light touch of fantasy because the armors and cities are generally realistic.
thanks

I've actually not played it, but it looks like something I would get into if I ever gave it the chance
Too bad the only way to control my gaming addiction is to avoid them completely!
p.s. I meant mmorpg :P If I was talking about a match based game Chivalry: Battle for Agatha would have already been my choice when it comes out
checked the list at mmorpg and doesnt look good
low fantasy just isnt popular with the kids. they want armor with more spikes than a porcupine, swords so big that even if they were aluminum they'd weigh a ton, nuclear arrows and mages that fly around shooting fireballs out their ass.
It might not be an mmo, but you'll definitely get some large scale multiplayer medieval battles out of it.
supposedly mortal online was good but its dying

again, not mmo but maybe a little closer to what you're looking for?
In the WTFis series from TotalBiscuit, he shows a games like Diablo which is an MMO.
You also have Drakensang online.
Age of Conan maybe?
Vindictus is another one.
LOTR online goes without saying.
Dungeon and Dragons maybe?
Problem is, your mileage may vary, no single game is going to go dark and girmey in the world of MMO, unless they have a strong fan-base a la WOW or LOTR.
Although, if you're forgiving enough in your needs, I would say GW2 would be a killer choice.

still one of the best mmo´s if you ask me. if they were to remake it i would totally play it
I agree. The day production on Ultima Online 2 was ended was a sad one. Im not sure what it was about the game, but my friends and I would talk about it even years after we stopped playing.
Lotro - there's only 1 real spellcasting class in there, and even though it has elves'n'dwarves it feel very low fantasy. There's a lot of attention to detail in that game which I really like, although overall the gameplay is similar to WoW.
