Okay guys, have a question that is in need of some serious explanation.
I need to fake reflections in Max, for rendering purposes, but with mobile gaming specs.
Does anyone have knowledge of this topic? Any answers would truly help!
You can duplicate geometry and flip it instead. For instance, if you have a reflective floor in a room, you take the entire room's geometry, flip it, then place it underneath the floor and have the floor be slightly transparent.
Its a pretty common tactic that is used in mobile games now. (infinity blade did this in the cathedral...I know there was a page that showed this, but I can't find it atm) I believe that this used to be done all the time to fake reflections in the PS2 era.
Also, there's cubemaps. While its definitely cheaper than actual reflections, I don't know if its good for mobile games or not.
