Awesome work! Its amazing what you guys are doing!
How is the workflow organized in regard to concepts? How detailed or refined are the concepts your working from? Do you have to design many shapes by yourself or do the concepts provide such rich details that there is no need to come up with shapes that work so great? Is designing / concepting strictly seperated from you environment guys?
Thanks a lot everyone. @danjohncox - It was a mixture of sculpting in damage and using alphas. I'm slowly learning to go bolder with the detail passes as subtle detail, while it looks good in high poly, doesn't always transfer well. @Slave_zero - It all varies. We have some amazing concept artists here. Sometimes we get some really detailed concepts, and at other times we get more of a mood painting defining the whole instead of the individual parts.
Shane Pierce does a lot of our environment concepts and you should definitely take a look at some of the awesome concepts he did for Gears 3, and it may give you a general idea of the concept process. @Money - That's the Bank level which was all Pat Jones and Mikey Spano, with that awesome looking fire done by Tim Elek. @Lee3dee - I'll ask around and answer that in a bit. @d1ver - Thanks a lot man!
@Raul - Thanks a lot! @Lee3Dee - Epic doesn't offer any internship program in the traditional sense where you can go online and apply for one. I got offered the internship largely (probably entirely) by posting my work up online, mainly here. And that's about the best way I can think of breaking into the industry; Post your work online! Polycount is an exceptional place for this, both in the opportunities to learn and meet people in the industry. It's surprising how many industry professionals are lurking around on these boards. If they don't find your work here, one of their friends is bound to post something they like on Facebook. @DillonBarba - I may be wrong but I think Jordan made the couch a while back. I'll bug him him tomorrow and try to get him to post some of his awesome stuff up here.
Im only 15 years old and its my dream job to work at Epic games. This stuff is truely Gut wrenching from how damn gorgeous it is. Absolutely my favorite Art style's is UT3 and GoW, so its not hard for me to fall in love with the visuals instantly

OH NO YOU DI'INT.
I think the two/three-tone color scheme really fits well with the Gears' dreaded universe.
