Darkness II 30 minute preview!!

Hey guys! Here's a preview of the game "The Darkness II" that myself and fellow polycounters have been working on for the past 2 years.

I'm excited to get my hands on the release build of the game myself! *insert shameless plug* the game ships Feb 7th (PC, 360, PS3). There are no spoilers in the video preview, gamespot merely introduces it to you and shows you 30 minutes of footage from the start of the game.

An art dump will follow from a few of the art team once we've got it cleared.

I am actually glad that by the time I joined DE you guys were wrapped up with D2. This way none of the magic will be spoiled when I will first play the game..

I even avoided booting up the build in the office just not to spoil anything.

I'm actually really pumped to hear what everyone thinks of the game. At times it's hard to detach yourself from the project and see it through the eye's of the people who will be playing this, and at this point, I just wanna hear their opinions, Good or Bad :P

This has been an amazing project to be on, working with some crazy talented people along the way! Here's to busting ass!

Pity the scripted violence looks better than the realtime gameplay violence Looks sweet though.

Andreas - Nah man, the scripted violence IS awesome... but once you REALLY get the hang of using your arms in combat, that's where it reaallly starts to shine.

I hope there's a way to disable that text that keeps popping up. "Anaconda +30" would get REAL annoying after the gazillionth time.

@BigJohn not sure about the demo but the full release has a variety of turn on/off switches for the HUD in the options menu. I'm pretty sure you can disable it. I didn't want to ruin the game for myself, so barely played single and multiplayer but I know it's good fun. Sorry if that's not a definitive answer for ya.

Just played the PC demo. Enjoyed it very much and love the graphic noir look they have going. PC controls are very well done to, my only minor gripe would be to switch the "Eat Heart" to another key, keep meaning to eat the hearts and end up picking up a new weapon.

Looking forward to it's release!

I gotta agree. I just finished playing a little bit of the demo, and the game looks awesome! the art style blends so well, and everything is more colorful and high contrast. The characters have a really nice rendering effect on them as well. The controls on PC feel a little clunky, so i guess i gotta play this one with my xbox controller. Apart from that, the game plays like a charm, and looks awesome!
Definitively picking this one up! i was not a big fan of the first one, but this one kept me wanting to play more.

also played the demo yesterday when it came out on steam. I never played the 1st one tho. I was quite amazed how entertaining this game was Will definetly get this game ! Great work and congrats to the polycounters that worked on it

just played the demo, and now it's already pre-ordered

Graphics are good, but the gameplay is incredible.

Controls in PC can be key-binded and can be perfect!, just remap them as i do, and you will play it better than with a pad. i have the xbox controller for pc and meh... there is no color playing a fps with it.

Damn, i would like to play the 1st one on pc.

Played like 45 mins of the game so far, and i was having such a good time. Really a nice looking game, and its lots of fun! Really a fresh take on what a FPS is, and i dunno why, but the whole italian accents and family reminds me of The Sopranos.... might just be me.

Awesome job tho to everyone that worked on this game!

Played through the whole game in one sitting tonight. Absolutely loved every minute.
The story was well done and the characters show their emotions because of it.
Got some Max Payne vibes too from certain parts.

The Haunted ride was great, love the set pieces and lighting in that level. To bad the darking had to die, loved him as a companion.
Ending was pretty good, although i expected the fight with victor to be harder, i was expecting him to remove the roof piece by piece to allow the light in to combat you.
Again loved the emotion shown by Jenny once you complete the game.

Congrats to everyone who worked on this, awesome game.

Ark - I believe we had something like that for that particular fight, but it got changed after awhile.

Had a great time playing the SP, now to finish the New Game+ on Don difficulty, then off the the co-op, just need to find a nice co-op partner.

Yea... just finished the SP... it was really entertaining. I had a lot of fun. I am curious to see the co op tho. Really nice looking game tho! loved the style and the story was pretty amusing.
