Bluepoint Games is looking for a Senior Technical Artist (Maya).
In the past we've worked on critically acclaimed projects such as God of War Collection, The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. We're currently working on a very exciting yet to be announced non-HD remaster project.
You will be part of a small, focused, and very experienced team. The Senior Technical Artist position calls for an experienced production artist with a strong technical background. You will be working together with the team to develop solutions to improve art process and pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Research and development of new art tools, processes and technologies for character and environment art
- Identify novel content optimization solutions that improve performance on target console platforms whilst maintaining resource budgets and rendering quality
- Ensure that all production art takes best advantage of the target platforms while staying within performance guidelines
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years experience
- Shipped at least one well-reviewed title on PS3 and/or Xbox360 as a Technical Artist
- Excellent knowledge of Autodesk Maya, with solid MEL and/or Python scripting skills
- Expert level familiarity with environment and character art creation and workflow, especially with an eye on performance
- Self motivated and self-starting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience writing Cg/HLSL shaders
- Art skills such as character and/or environment modeling, UV mapping, texturing, character weighting and traditional art skills
- Familiarity using C, C++, or C# as part an art asset pipeline
- Experience managing in-house and/or offsite contract artists
