Tablet care and feeding

So I just picked up an Intuous 4 tablet and I'm really liking it! It's a huge step up from my little Bamboo (which served me well for years). I know the bamboo got a little grungy at the end there so I'm wondering ... how do people care for their tablets? Or do you, at all? Is it fine to just let it sit out and gather dust/whatever when you're not using it?

If i had one id do the same thing i do with all my electronics

Look up the materials its surface is made of and see whats best used to clean it because Im sure we all at one time used alcohol to clean our CD's but still wondered where the scratches were coming from..
Keep it nice and cold because more heat just speeds up its death
Keep any thing you can ingest away from it

If the top surface starts to peel at the corners, don't use superglue. Feels mushy now :O

I eat my meals off mine, kind of like a tea tray or table mat.

Be careful with the connecter where the USB cord gets plugged into the tablet. The cord is extremely long and can get tugged out pretty easily. I've already on my second Intuos 4 and had to send it in for repairs three times now after both left and right sides crapped out.

The clear coat is like chipping off now and there's a rough/scratchy surface when I glide my pen over it, pretty annoying.

I spray it and wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth every couple of days that I use it. So there's no oil buildup. I use klear screen because I have tons of it, but I've used regular old Windex as well. No adverse effects.

Disconnect, light mist over core surface or extra mist if exceptionally oily or built up, wipe in straight lines from edge to edge with dry microfiber cloth, fold cloth repeat wipes, let dry (takes maybe 30seconds), reconnect.

I avoid spraying any liquid directly on the scroll pad or whatever the circle is called and just clean that with the cloth itself. The clothes generally retain enough dampness that it cleans it well without the worry of anything harmful seeping into the seams.

Also don't sit food and crap on it, and depending on the location of your desk/usb ports buying a shorter cable could be worth it.

The Intuos 4's usually come in a cloth sleeve. Might be useful to cover it up when not in use.

The stupid switch on the stylus isn't in there well, so keep away from children. Fortunately a replacement can be had in a "combo parts and stuff" pack for 25$.

I eat on it all the time, the only thing that messed up my tablets are the pen tips. I have a heavy hand and draw on one part and tend to scratch into the surface.

Yeah I have only had issues with pen tips too. Had an Intous 3 at work and when I got it there was a super small scratch in the middle of it. Since I use my tablet to model by the time crunch ended it was a very large divit in the middle haha. Hope it doesn't happen to the Intous 4 they finally gave me as a replacement.

The Cover sheet always dies first on mine but dont worry about it you can buy replacement pretty cheap

I box mine up exactly as it came, I even wrap the mouse and pen holder in the cover they came in. Been well over a year now and it might as well be new still.

Its a $600.00 piece of equipment which we dont care about at all, we love it tho.

I slide mine to the side while I am reading / studying or eating at the computer table.

I am looking to work on my work place too. So that might change.
