Hey guys, I'm trying to randomize some vertex colours, Tried looking for a script but couldn't find one except for Vertex Chameleon. Right now I don't have the luxury of acquiring new plug-ins and what not, so I was wondering how to do it with just Maya.
I want to bake AO into vertex colours and modulate(multiply)it over my textures. Since I will mostly be using repeating textures I was thinking about adding some variation to the whole thing by randomizing the vertex colours a bit. Now I don't think Maya does this, but I thought it should be possible if I could bake my vertex colours to a texture. Randomize it in Photoshop, (add noise, rainbow cloud and what not) and bake the texture data to vertex colours.
I tried to bake the vertex colours to a texture using the batch bake in Maya, but was unsuccessful.
Some help on how to transfer texture data to vertex and vice versa would be awesome
So again what I like to do:
1. Bake AO to vertex colours. (done)
2. Bake vertex colours to texture
3. Randomize texture by multiplying a noise/clouds filter
4. Transfer texture data back to vertex colours.
Thanks.
