It would be insanity not to do it. I would expect them to be working towards getting their future releases on consoles as well. The market is simply too big.
It makes a lot of sense from a gameplay perspective. I'd probably rather sit on the couch to play this game than lose my arm to RSI. But, expect it to not fully use Battle.net (or use it at all) - I can't see them getting MS to allow it. Also the PC version would probably look better and have more features, so it's probably still the version to go with.
Totally debating buying on PC and Ps3, sometimes I feel like gaming on the couch like rob This is good news, and this will sell like crazy (not that it wasn't going to anyways)
hmm... i think i'll stick to pc unless they come up with a clever way of not needing to constantly move the cursor around the screen. i always feel like that's never very successful on the console, ie: rts' and the like.
and yeah, i know fps is basically a cursor moving all over the screen :P
@eld: Never assume anything. Just because Beta is out and being played doesn't mean they won't start tweaking things for the console market. I doubt they will, but never assume it.
I was reading some comments somewhere that got me thinking. How will some of the spells work on a controller. Alot of skills in D2 need the accuracy of a mouse (dragging or clicking). i.e. Firewall, Teleport, Leap attack, etc. I can't imagine how they'll work on a controller.
One of the major things for me about Diablo is the control system and that you can play the entire game only using the mouse. Not that I would, hot keys make things alot faster. But its a very important thing and I just can't imagine playing Diablo on a pad. I think it would feel like a completely different game to me. More like Baldurs gate I spose.
I was, in a smart assed way, trying to point out that the things some people view as suffering are actually pretty meaningless to the bigger picture. Skyrim had a console centric interface ... PC gamers got upset, sure, but ultimately it meant nothing. One could take that data and deduce that spending time on making a PC specific interface is a waste of time and money.
You can only 'deduce that' based on Skyrim's PC sales proportional to console platform sales, when compared to something like expectation extrapolated from the same data from its predecessor.
Torchlight on XBL was awesome, and chances are Diablo 3 will be too (if this is indeed true). The skills and mapping to controls will be tricky, but I'm sure they'll figure out something awesome.
exciting if true, but i'll believe it when its on their website.
didnt they say something about direct control in the article, which sounds to me like, moving the analogue stick to move your character instead of clicking, and then probably directionally attacking with the other stick or something, eliminating the need for a cursor. it would be interesting to see, might make selecting things in piles of loot a bit more annoying though.

Huh? Skyrim? i don't see your point :S
I have pre-ordered 2 copies of Diablo 3, and i doubt it will have console controls!
we had the beta...
We've seen how diablo3 plays, tons of People have already played diablo3, there are videos and streams of people playing diablo3.
There's really nothing that will change from that because of this announcement.

Sales didn't suffer obviously, but I bloody did, and still do. The menus take the piss.
