2012 side project has begun!
I did some tutorials back in 2009 on YouTube, a fire & destruction tutorial which was pre-fracture. I got a lot of emails asking for more

So I decided to create a fx podcast this year. Making things that would look good for someone's portfolio and talking through my process. Hope it helps people interested.
Episode 1 - Skyrim Quest VFX Tutorial
This runs about 2 hours, took me 6 hours to record it, since I kept doing things and not speaking as I was doing them. Next one, will probably be more focused
Anyways, Thought I'd share my project with you guys

Thanks man, and I hope you continue to contribute!
I'm having issues with Vimeo, though. For whatever reason, I'm unable to skip to a certain mark in the video, even if the entire video has loaded. It's most likely just my computer.
Chris: I'll email vimeo and ask about that.
blood_falcon: Thanks! Checked out your reel, any interest in moving to Austin? we are looking for a FX Artist @ KingsIsle
Ah. So it's not just me? I've been trying all sorts of wizardry!
That quest is a good example too. I was especially impressed by the effects at the end of the quest, when she flies out of the cave.
keep up the good work.
Part 2 On Youtube goes only 33:46, and in the Vimeo version the video stops around the same time and you get sound for awhile "Okay back in UDK" etc...
Great stuff though, not enough VFX stuff around.
Thanks for your patience.

1. How to make different types of Fires fx
2. How to create a special ability FX like Marvel vs Capcom 3
Also, votes for 2!
And yes, practical FX are so overdone. I say that from experience
I create powers everyday at work, so it will be fun! I'm also thinking about doing 2 versions, 1 for UDK and 1 for Hero Engine (BioWare uses this) for those who want may want to learn using an MMO engine.
p.s. you're awesome.
This is awesome ! Thanks a lot !
Can't wait to look forward to this stuff
