[photoshop][chrome] saving images error

Strange error this, but when I save an image in google chrome (right click - save as etc) to my HDD, photoshop steals focus and alerts me that it can't open the document because it's not the right type. This only happens if photoshop is open while I'm using chrome (I've not tried in other browsers) but it's started to get pretty annoying. Anyone know why photoshop is getting upset about this?

Is photoshop your default image viewer for the format you're trying to save/open?

Does the error occur when you save the image, or try to open the image after saving?

Try changing the default program for the file extension (.jpg, .png, .gif) to be something like, "windows image viewer" or something like that.
