There have been some rumours of co-op multiplayer and hints of a story too. http://sillegamer.com/2011/12/27/god-of-war-iv-set-to-feature-online-co-op-with-kratos-deimos-psm3-jan-2012/
Assuming that isn't all bullshit, I think a better option would be to actually take some cues from the Greek mythology on which the series is vaguely based and make the co-op game about brothers Deimos and Phobos going after Kratos for killing their father Ares, not to mention everyone else and for generally being an enormous jerk.
At this point who wouldn't want a chance to kick Kratos' dusty white arse?

I hope those are true! Two player throws like those in Urban Reign would rock.

Sweet! I wonder if my old concept artist Eric is working on that. If so then the concepts should be really sweet if they let him do his thing.
I loved 1 and 2 and some how did not finish 3. Infact I stopped right after punching a dude a lot from his perspective right after tons of QT events. I just couldn't pick it back up - the beginning really turned me off. I really want to pick it back up though and finish it.
Ugh, can't we have spin-offs instead? Like TV shows which should stop at the 6 season, games need to stop at 3, period.
Anything more, and you're forced to stick to old formula's that will get old very quickly, especially after a long hiatus.
limited time Kellogg's God of war cereal with 6 fun marshmallows, harpies, minotaurs, cyclops eyes, golden fleeces, sirens, and krakens. The cereal bits are kratos and they are covered in frosty ashes of his sugar wife and child! did I mention it turns the milk red? part of a balanced breakfast

Hmm, interesting. I'm not sure if I'm onboard with that. I'm all for a multiplayer that will work, but I would hate for the single player campaign to be compromised because marketing convinces them to squeeze in a multiplayer mode. We'll see.
It's so fun slaughtering people in this game. Some video

I'm optimistically wary. I've never been interested in GoW as a multiplayer game, but that interview makes it sound pretty cool. Nice to hear about the engine advancements too, I can't stand in the waxy skin in GoW3.
If they really wanted to get creative, they could show Kratos as the God Of War, struggling with his experiences as the mythological eras transitioned from the Greek to the Roman pantheon.
Zeus begat Jupiter and Ares begat Mars, but there were differences between the pantheons. They weren't the exact same thing with two names. That upheval during the cultural shift could be extremely cool if it was investigated through the lens of the changes in their mythology.
Looks awesome Arsh! Really looking forward to this. The art in GOW3 is still some of the best shipped console art out there and that game is a few years old at this point. Can't wait to see how it's being pushed with this one.
Thanks Jeffro! I can't wait to show stuff from single player. I think everything across the board is better in this game, the art team has really out done themselves on this one. I thought 3 looked great when it came out, but looking at it now after working on this installment makes it look really dated.

Awww man, you tease. The rendering on that cyclops looked so awesome!
So was pretty excited about this, the brief gameplay clips looked awesome, great imagery.
And then I saw the last clip and my reaction was SHIT NO NO!!
I'm pretty phobic about shadows in deep water, or things that can eat me in deep water. I even had difficulty with the eel Collosus in Shadow of the Collosus. Might have to give this one a miss so or let someone else play that level for me lol.

I watch those 2 seconds again and again and again. This underwater scene looks great! I love when game confronts you with something massive. Always loved this in GOW. You really can feel how small you are compared to this massive monster... Looooove it! Gives me chills.
i made the big underwater guy, glad you guys dig it. there will be a big art dump at some point.
Also, you guys haven't seen anything yet. they did a good job with the teaser, giving a small taste but not really showing any of the super epic stuff. stay tuned, more to come in the following weeks leading up to release.

Oh hell yeah art dump for this game. I know a few people over there at Santa Monica and they had a little gallery show at Gnomon with some of their sculpts a couple years back and they were super inspirational. It'd be so cool to work on some of those bosses and creatures
Looking forward to it, God of War 3 has been one of my favorite PS3 titles to date. Bought the art of God of War book recently, awesome art. Really interested how it turns out, now that the game engine has been mastered a lot more, shit, GoW 3 was awesome already. Oh and the music.

Sack rubbingly good game.
A Thought, I'd love for them to shift to Norse Mythology.

To be fair though, god of war 3 was the fifth god of war game made, with ghost of sparta being the sixth :P

You mean Asura's Wrath?
Oh so priceless!!

Apparently! Looks good to me. Quite like the brighter art direction.

there's a strong demand for GOW: brokeback olympus spin-off, just saying...

Love God of War series.
;P
My interest just went from 0-100 on the Manticore alone. Loved the first 2 but a crash bug halfway through 3 just left me bitter and grumpy.
First 30 mis of gameplay
