Hi, very simple question, when do a game become a hit, specially for a mobile device game?
are there any principles that govern and determine sales, something like a list of rules?
I benefited from your posts a lot in the past, can you help with this too?

There is a pretty large variety in top free/paid games, look for yourself.
There isn't any magical single genre.
A small indie company can afford to be agile, make a lot of small games and be unconventional. Find a niche that hasn't been filled - what do you think would appeal to your fellow countrymen?
2. Lots of marketing, positive media reviews and lots of advertisement.
1 X 2 = a chance for huge success, but not a guarantee.
If the game is not good or the marketing is weak then the chance of success is lowered significantly.
Good luck!

This. There's a reason that so many Call of Duty games, or games like it, come out.
Good Marketting is one.
Good, quality game.
Word of mouth. Certain websites, with certain characters can sell alot of your game for you.
Just my thoughts
There are a billion games about slingshotting one object into other objects...Yet Angry Birds sells millions while other games fall out of existence.
You can try to do some marketing, get your game reviewed...but only nerds that read Iphone game reviews will hear about it.
Really...its just luck. You kind have to hope that your game launches on the app store on a day where a lot of people are looking to buy a game....and you have to hope that your game is good enough that they spread word of mouth...and if you somehow manage to get on a top 10 list...then your chances are good....but the reality of it is...you probably won't strike it big on purpose.
call of duty :-D
Games that start on XBLA, Steam/ PSN, then ported over had a little more success.
all n' all the game has to be fun, be playable comfortably with a touch screen, and polished.
crazy talk! you wouldn't buy an anubis vs magicians game? lies
