Hello,
I'm Sofie, a second year student Digital Arts & Entertainment in Kortrijk, Belgium. Our final 3D assignment consists of making a hi poly vehicle and baking it to a low poly.
Here's some quick renders of my hi poly
C&C very welcome!
Heya Sofie, how "WIP" is this model, and how much artistic liberty are you taking ?
As there are quite a few inaccuracies throughout.
Wheels/Tyres:
Tyres are Slighlty too thin and look very rigid. Soften it all up to get a feel for the rubber.
HubCaps need to be much more bulbous.(almost half spherical)
Wheels need to much more "Deep Dish" - especially on the inner rim. The details you have placed for the steering joints/brakes are very simplified.
Grill is too large with front steering column too low.
This list goes on ... so id suggest finding more detailed references of the parts of this rat rod. Even something similar on a different vehicle that is closer in to show off the details.
I'm taking quite some artistic liberty. The engine is a different one and the front suspension was made from ref of another car.
But you're right, i'll lower the grill and revise those tires!
It's due in 4 weeks (but we have other assignments as well )
For this deadline, the interior of the car will not be modelled, so the windows will remain opaque.
Thank you so much for your comments!
this is the ref i used for my suspension. The brakes are different ones
The bottom mounts for the shocks look very flimsy on yours. It's got to be able to hold the full weight of the car, I'd beef it up.
Main issue I see is that the main cabin looks very square and blocky compared to ref, the real one has many subtle curves: they didn't really make perfectly straight, blocky cars back then...
Restarted this!
Didn't finish it the way I would've liked to and gonna turn it into a portfolio piece.
So here's another work in progress.
The tires are going to be completely redone, as they are still too small and sharp.
The main thing I changed in this wip is the body. still needs some work though.
