Trying to make a Nelson clock.

Hey,

I am pretty new to all this 3D CG stuff but i can't make my clock any further. I am trying to close this close so it won't be open. Kinda hard to explain but i added a picture to it.
Also it would be great if you could help me find any decent tutorials for beginners like me, i realy start liking to make 3D ''art''

That clock is pretty easy. Just count the number of parts sticking out of the center (in this case 12) and then just make a cylinder with that many sides and extrude them all.

I did that but then i get the openings in the model

Where do you get the holes?
