Starting up another project despite not being done with the previous one. Trying to maximize the potential of my winter break and churn out several new portfolio pieces before I head back.
Anyway with one I'm trying to keep very low poly, unlike the Dranei Scythe I'm also doing

The tri count is currently sitting at 281
Also please pay no attention to the weird chunk of black at the bottom of the handle something weird was going on with the Lattice modifier and it's nowhere near dense enough to be causing that.

Some suggestions - since the concept is actually quite silhouette-based, I would consider adding a bit more geo here and there. Also, I believe your grip is a bit fat:

also none of the planes are alphaed out yet
Options ---> Preferences ---> Display Preferences. There's an option for render width and render height. When you're done changing the height and width, press OK.
That's how you do it in Max 2011. Not sure if it's any different in Max 2012. Anyway, hope that helps.
