In a new city

Im not entirely sure where to put a topic such as this, but I just moved into Manhattan and I'm trying to get onto the scene here a bit, like with groups or anything like that. Not so much jobs, more of just the community around here. Anyone on poly know where I should start?? Thanks guys

Yea, I joined their mailing list for events, but the last one was in January, either they are about to host something soon or they just aren't that active.

I don't know about 3D art, but for general game design / indie games: Global Game Jam at NYU at the end of January. Babycastles throws parties. NYU Game Center events / NYU Poly / New School Games Club, all offer some stuff to do, usually open to the public. Eyebeam playtests too.
