Hi this might seem stupid, but up until now i have only done some touch up on assets using zbrush, so i havent really done anything tiling.
So here is my question, Is there anyway to start from a plane in zbrush, sculpting for example a rock surface, and get it tiling inside of zbrush without having to edit the maps in photoshop. is there a zbrush offset?
If its a planar mesh, you may have to go into Transform>> Modifiers and limit the axis when sculpting along the edges. Then it will only push it up, instead of up and out.
I'm late with the edit, but here's an example anyway:
The axis in question for the modifier (and sym) may depend if your sculpting along the top & bottom or the sides, and symmetry is really only valid if you're aiming for a symmetrical wrap.
i might not have understood everything correctly but with the Z axis checked it no longer goes beyond its original size, problem now is that i cant use box alpha for my brushes , any way to work around this?
You'll need all three axis if you want to drag an alpha on that is meant to affect more than one direction (as most are). That is where Orb's method will come in handy vs just wrapping standard brush strokes. Otherwise you'll have to draw down the alpah's you want first in the center of the mesh, offset the document to move them to the edges, and then project the result back onto a new plane (zproject or matchmaker or displacement, etc). It's still quick, but it means more tools to manage and keep track of.

If you're just sculpting a plane though and want to stay in edit mode, you'd probably be better off turning on wrap mode (Brush>> Curve)
Or you will get a seam

cryrid: thats true, that explains it, thanks
i'm using personally the wrapmode at 2 instead of 1, with a plane that have a bit more surface around it. It's just an other way to achieve it.
no, that's the point of wrap mode 2.
thanks for all the help people.
